A scared world needs a FEARLESS Church.
Five years ago while traveling with Worth Dying For, God clearly spoke to me through a supernatural encounter. It was likened to the moment when Paul was knocked off his horse he so passionately rode. If you were to ask me before that moment, “How long
will you be a youth pastor?” I would have proudly said, “For life.” However, God had other plans that conflicted with mine. There are those moments in time when we realize the real one in charge of time and space lives outside of ours. The sound was sucked out of the room like a scene from an epic movie. Instantly, I heard the voice of the Lord speak clearly to me like never before, “In five years you will start a radical church with this band.” Instantly, the sound flooded back into the faculties of my ear drums. Since that moment, many miracles have taken place as a reminder of the call....simply to answer the great commission to go into all the world and preach the good news of the gospel, raise the dead, heal the sick, and cast off demons. I don’t want to plant a
church, but a team that looks, thinks and acts like Jesus, and through that we would be the church. Recently at an altar, I began to ask God who would go with me on this exploit and who would be my youth pastor. Immediately I heard the voice of God say, “What if I told you your youth pastor isn't even saved yet.” As soon as I heard this, I looked to my left at
the altar and next to me was a college student who was recently saved. I laughed, as he jumped with everything he had in worship, singing every song at the top of his lungs. The rest of the church looked almost dead in comparison to this radical new disciple.
God spoke again, “Let me take care of who is on and off your team and you just get on my team.” He has also sent many fathers and friends into my life to speak wisdom each step of the way. Number one, God has clearly said it will start with what we know, not with what we don’t know. Therefore, it may look and sound different than what most call a church. See, what we know right now is how to reach teenagers, young adults, and the young at heart and that is where we will begin. We will reach out to the campuses and universities of the cities that call Southern California home. Some, including myself,
have said, “But where in Southern California, I mean Southern California is like a country of its own.” God showed me if we are supposed to be fishers of men we should fish for men like we fish for fish. The few times I have ventured out to go fishing I found
that true fishermen aren’t concerned about the bait they use or where in the pond they are fishing. However, there is one thing that drives them more than anything else... catching more fish. They travel from location to location and fish in every spot until they find where the fish are hungry for the bait they have in their tackle box. Therefore, armed with the powerful bait of love, we will fish the pond until we find where the fish are biting and from those places make disciples to do the same. Lastly, we are called to build the church that God put inside us, not the church that we found in a leadership book or we have seen work somewhere else. Simply the church we would love to attend. We will plant a church that looks like the original church - both
excellent and powerful. We believe that God does not want one without the other and we will need to have both to reach the world. In all honesty, I don’t have all the answers on how this movement will look a year from now but what I do have is the “GO.” I
feel like I’m running at a mountain that I don’t know how to get up, at least not yet! However, as with everything God calls us to do, the only way to find out is to run at it full speed. A major part of our ministry will continue to be Ammunition Conference as well as traveling, both myself and the band Worth Dying For. God has placed a mandate upon our lives, not only to a city, but to a world. Pray for us for continued wisdom and strength on our epic adventure. Lord make us
